WELSH WOMENS BOWLING ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 75 YEARS - 1932-2007

Welsh Womens's Bowling History

25 Welsh ladies from six clubs met at the Great Western rooms, Newport on Thursday March 3rd 1932 and created the Welsh Ladies Bowls Association. The six clubs were Thomastown, Beechwood, Newtown, Penarth Windsor and Troedyrhu and Cyfartha. By 1934 eight clubs were affiliated to the association and the membership was 149 players. Today membership stands at eight County Associations and 160 clubs.

Although the Association started life as the Welsh Ladies Bowls Association at some time it became the Welsh Women's Bowling Association in line with that of other Associations, this was first recorded in minutes of a committee meeting on January 25th 1949.
